The mySugr Bolus Calculator helps you calculate the right amount of insulin for your meals, corrections for high blood sugar values and it recommends carbs. When blood glucose is below your hypo limit it, recommends carbs to bring you back to the middle of your target range.

The mySugr Bolus Calculator is currently only available for users 18 and over.

The user interface design has been updated to incorporate new bolus calculator algorithm parameters, improve the overall accessibility of the product, as well as incorporating better support for users when it comes to setting up the mySugr Bolus Calculator. Additional screens in the mySugr Bolus Calculator setup flow have also been introduced in order to incorporate new algorithm parameters:

• Meal rise
• Offset time
• Active insulin

Following the first introduction of the NovoPen in 2021, the mySugr Bolus Calculator will not be available for mySugr users with a connected NovoPen. We are working on making the mySugr Bolus Calculator compatible for smart insulin pen users in the future.

The Bolus Calculator update is available on iOS and Android.

The mySugr Bolus Calculator calculates the amount of remaining insulin that can still lower your glucose levels. This is what we call Active Insulin. Active Insulin is subtracted from calculated boluses to prevent insulin stacking and avoid hypoglycemia, so you stay safe and in control. If the mySugr Bolus Calculator does not work on your smartphone, please check the following options:

• Everything updated? Please check if there are any updates available for the mySugr App on your phone. If yes, please update and try again.
• Everything secure? In order to keep all of your settings safe and protected, you will be asked to secure your mySugr Bolus Calculator. If your mobile device is already secured with authentication, like a password, fingerprint or a face ID, this will keep your settings safe. If not, we’ll ask you to set up some authentication throughout your user journey. Simply tap ‘Open Settings’ to secure your smartphone. Settings are protected per device via user authentication anytime settings are changed and approved.

If the Bolus Calculator is not visible in the manual log entry screen

Make sure that the Bolus Calculator is enabled in the mySugr app settings:

• Android: open the sidebar and go to “Profile & Settings”/“Settings”
• iOS: Go to “More/Profile & Settings/Insulin therapy”

IMPORTANT: You have the possibility to add, remove and move the fields of your entry screen with the 'Customize cells' button in the mySugr Logbook: Tap the eye icon to show/hide cells. Please be aware that this function can have an impact on what you see in the log entry screen. If 'Insulin (food)' and 'Insulin (correction)” are hidden, the mySugr Bolus Calculator will also be hidden. Note: 'Insulin (food)' and 'Insulin (correction)' are grouped together and cannot be moved separately.
